Alternate

Prickly pears line the asphalt streets.
Ammonia clouds gather above.
The music notes fall lazily out of my ears.
So tired.
The sun is hidden but the world still feels like an oven.
Shadows don't even want to come out.
I walk the rocky streets with beads of sweat dripping down my back.
I just want it all to go away.
A gunshot rings out.
A baby cries.
A womyn shouts.
I keep trudging til I come to the meadow full of ragweed, dry brown grass, and dandelions.
I look up through squinted eyes and see in front of me....
A UNICORN!
I hear in my mind "Get on."
So I do, unable to fully comprehend what is happening.
It must be all the chemicals in the air and food I think.
The unicorn starts running fast, faster, and even faster until the world is one gray blur.
Then we stop.
We are still in the meadow, but it is green and lush with wild flowers of purple, orange, blue, pink, and yellow everywhere.
Children are laughing and playing.
The sky is clear.
The water pure.
People are walking, talking, and dancing together.
It is beautiful.
"where are we?" I ask the unicorn.
She laughs and says "Here"
"Where's here?" I ask not understanding.
"We never left."
I still don't get it.
The world I was just in did not look like this.
The unicorn understands my thoughts and laughs again...
"Your reality is simply different than mine. I'm showing you how I choose to view the world. You can view the world like this as well. And maybe, once enough of us view the world filled with this light and love, all realities will become one and we will live together in harmony."
I woke up under the dying tree.
I felt refreshed.
Was it a dream?
It felt too real.
And under this dying tree, I see a little green leaf coming into being.

Tribute to Huxley, Orwell, and Bradbury with a political rant included

Corporate delusions push out the insights.
Out of sight out of mind.
Fahrenheit 451
But its not books burning this time.
No that will come later.
That ash falling down around you belongs to all the souls that have died fighting and committing genocide all because....
the president said so...
god said so...

Huxley and Orwell were both right.
We are in 1984 but consuming the lies of a brave new world.
Man made drugs replace the blood in our veins so we can forget the world we are living in.
There is an actual drug called Soma...
how similar...how similar.
They foretold the future, yet here we are.

Oh, black people have "freedom" now?
This will not do.
divide and conquer, divide and conquer.
They can never be united.
They can never realize the truth.
White flight...yes. ghettos created.
police them daily to keep them in.
Fill their streets with crack.
Those who wrote the amendments were selfish greedy men.
They did not care about you.
Stop lying to yourself.
They knew what they were doing when they wrote the 13th amendment:
"neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States"
So round them up and put them in jail and say hello to the new form of slavery.

And this mindset exists everywhere.
different forms, different shapes, different disguises, but one source.
Greed and Fear.

They foretold the future but were passed off as science fiction writers.

Welcome to the brave new world of 1984.

Wonderland

We live in a wonderland of magic and crystal glitter that has been soaked in dirty dish water, rung out repeatedly and hung out to dry.

Maybe once it is done drying though we will be beautiful again.
So beautiful again that in fact the fairies, unicorns, and rainbow dragons will no longer have to hide themselves from human sight.
Angels will walk beside us, as usual, but this time it won't look like we are talking to ourselves.
It won't be "urban myths" anymore but "how-it-used-to-be" stories.
There will be no use for automobiles of any sorts because we will all have mastered the art of being in different places at the same time.
It is possible.
Telepathy will be readily used so no lies will be uttered.
But then again, there would be no point in lying.
We would be living in a perpetual dream, manifesting all our desires with pure, loving intentions.
A dream come true.

So let the sun shine on.

If you truly want to learn anything...

Stop trying to teach children and learn from them.

You know society is still fucked when a little 5 year old Latina is looking at pictures of herself with you on her last day of preschool and says she doesn't like some because she is ugly and fat.

"What?! I think you are always looking beautiful all the time."

Giggles and turns to the next page.

Or when a 4 year old tells you she is ugly today because she has no makeup on.
(I could relate to that feeling and it made me feel even sadder.)

"No! You don't need makeup to be beautiful. You look absolutely beautiful right now!"

She giggles and runs off.

I wonder if my words are enough to permeate or at least dent the brainwashing society has bestowed upon these children who honestly haven't even seen the world and all it's beauty yet.

"Once upon a time..."

"Once upon a time..."
A time when?
A time when magic existed.
Manifested into reality.
Where everyone in the end gets a "happily ever after".

My life will be a fairytale.
My life is a fairytale.
It will one day be a "once upon a time".

The Bluebird of Happiness Who Mated with the Trumpeter Swan of Sense

Dark and dismal, dark and dismal.
These were matters of the heart and they were not to be toyed with.
One blue and one white feather floating together in a lake made from the tears of Mother Earth.
The birds were gone.
Gone somewhere that only bird souls could go.
The crows sat amongst the branches cackling to each other of the truth they just witnessed.
They were the ones to turn it into a myth.
The vultures swarmed overhead, wondering when the bodies would appear.
The crows squawked to each other never taking their eyes off of the floating feathers.

"Did you see? Did you hear?"
A bluebird fell in love with a swan.

"What poppycock!"

But this was THE bluebird...the bluebird of pure happiness.
And that was THE swan....the swan of sensible being.

They fell in love when time began.
The leaves were new on the trees and the water was pure through and through.
They flew around the world sharing their love with every life.
An odd pair to see: a small fluttering bluebird with a big graceful swan.
But the common sense of receiving true happiness was a match made in Heaven.

But the world they once flew over started to change.
The leaves were brown and the water cloudy.
The bluebird's and swan's only refuge was that on the lake that Mother Earth had protected in a valley so deep.
She cried over the creation called human that had transformed into something she could not recognize anymore and formed the lake.
So there the bird lovers stayed, occasionally flying around the world trying to comfort the hurt humans bestowed upon themselves with their love;their happiness; their sense of everything.
But the hope that the bluebird and swan shone out went unnoticed after awhile.
The humans took it for granted.
They found their happiness in false things and sense disappeared.

One day, the day that the crows sat in the trees cackling about the murders they had seen, the bluebird and swan came back from a tiresome flight of hate and greed and landed in the lake to rest their tired bones.
As they swam next to each other and hid their tears of despaired hope, a giant coy of red and white jumped out of the lake and swallowed them whole.
Leaving nothing but one blue feather and one white feather.

And from the depths of the lake came a mournful voice telling those that could still hear...
"Pure happiness and a sense of being are no more in this world. Gratitude, empathy, and love are lost among you beings. You blinded yourselves. Blinded yourselves to the one pure, good thing left in the world. Now it is gone and you have to rediscover it for yourselves from within to heal the wounds you have made."

The crows cackled that day.
The vultures swarmed that day.
gossiping, lying about what they just saw and heard...until the words of the wise coy became nothing more than a whispered myth only a few wise ones remembered.

But when something once taken for granted is taken away so suddenly, one will began to notice the difference and tell someone else and so on and so on until it becomes only a matter of time before everyone begins to yearn for what was lost.
They will try to find it...again.

Then, maybe, Mother Nature won't cry anymore.

penetration

"the stars are pin pricks into heaven."

the light is coming through.
:light up the darkness:
a deep darkness that fills the void.
a darkness that consumes all color.
oh but the stars....
the stars are the light seeping out to abolish the darkness.
the light behind all darkness.
darkness cannot exist without light.
but light could still thrive without darkness.
darkness eats its fill of light to survive.
but light needs no sustenance.
So on any dark day...
all one has to do is open up and there is light.
